FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Oh my goodness! What a wet week! Thanks for your support as we navigated a rapidly changing situation. Hoping you and all your extended families and friends are ok.
We have a trifecta of celebrations for Mary Help of Christians Feast Day. With parish celebrations on Sunday, a great day planned here at school on Monday and Mass at the parish church on Tuesday, it will be a wonderful week.

This week’s Walk Worthy of God Good Citizen award was presented to Curtis McCarthy from Year Four. Mrs Fletcher spoke of a young gentleman who is respectful to everyone and a good friend to all. Well done, Curtis.

Warm regards,
Liz

Next Tuesday, Mrs Morgan will be taking our Senior Choir to compete at the Coffs Harbour Eisteddfod. Consisting of almost 140 talented vocalists, Mrs Morgan is thrilled to share the choir's incredible talent with the community. We congratulate these students on their hard work and dedication, and wish them the best of luck as they take to the stage on Tuesday.

LOVING LEARNING

What's happening in Year 2?
Over the past few weeks, our Year 2 students have been hard at work building their writing toolkits! They’ve taken the exciting step of transforming their notes into fully formed paragraphs, showing impressive focus and creativity along the way. With careful editing and plenty of perseverance, their writing has grown in clarity and confidence. The end goal? A fantastic digital informative book all about seals—crafted entirely by our budding authors! Stay tuned for their seal-iously impressive final product!

FROM THE MISSION DESK

Last weekend we welcomed Jai, Daisy and Elijah Stitt into our faith community when they were Baptised.
We also welcomed Sarah Brown, mum of Payton and Luna, when she completed her Rite of Christian Initiation, receiving the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist. Congratulations!

MHOC Feast Day
We are looking forward to celebrating our School Feast Day next Monday, 26th May!
Students are invited to come dressed in casual clothes and will take part in a variety of fun activities throughout the day. A sausage sizzle and cupcakes will be provided for all students to enjoy.
We welcome parents and families to join us for the Feast Day Liturgy, which will be held in the school hall at 12:30pm.
Unfortunately, due to the very wet condition of our field, we will need to reschedule the Colour and Slime Fun Run. But don’t worry it’s not cancelled! We’ll find a sunnier, less muddy day later in the term to make it even more fun.
We look forward to a wonderful day together as a school community!
What’s Been Happening in Religious Education in Kindergarten?
This week, we learned that Jesus is alive!
We heard about Jesus' friends who were fishing. Jesus told them to put their nets on the other side of the boat, and they caught lots of fish! They then knew Jesus was with them.
We also learned about two friends walking to Emmaus. They were sad, but Jesus walked with them without them knowing it. When he shared bread with them, they realised it was Jesus, alive again!

SENSEI'S CORNER

Year 2 had fun writing out the kanji for numerals 1-10. Next, in pairs, the students had to hunt down the correct number to match. These were hidden all around the hall. This offered a chance to run to find the matching stickers. It was lots of fun to learn on the run after being stuck indoors for so long.

Zone Cross Country Results
In a rare day of sunshine on Monday, our Zone Cross Country carnival was able to go ahead at the new venue of the Wiilgulga Sports Complex at Woolgoolga. Our runners took full advantage of the flat, concrete track, posting some excellent times and producing impressive results. The following students won their respective races and were named age champions: Sophie Van Hoeck, Sonny Diacono & Lacey Van Hoeck.
These results, paired with the long list of students who placed top 8 and qualified for the Diocesan Carnival, resulted in MHOC being awarded champion school and bringing home the Clarence Zone Cross Country shield!
We are so proud of the results of all of our runners and wish the following children well at the Diocesan Carnival on Thursday:
Sophie Van Hoeck, Olivia Fitzgerald, Sonny Diacono, Noah Meehan, Jacob Harrington, Easton Fargher, Laila Summer, Peyton Brown, Eli Fernie, Luke Doust, Max Herbert, Lachlan Herbert, Frankie Barreto-Gunn, Lacey Van Hoeck, Ella Duncan, Layla Verbruggen & Andi Dennis.

LIBRARY WHISPERS

With all the wet weather the library was full most days. Lots of drawing, playing games and reading. We’ve had more games of school being played this week than we have all year. It’s been very amusing seeing the different “teaching” styles the children have been using, all I can say is I’m glad some of them aren’t qualified yet!
