Mary Help of Christians Patroness of Australia
Feast Day - 24th May

Mary, under the title of Help of Christians, was chosen as the patroness of Australia at the first Provincial Synod of Sydney. In this role, she was chosen as the patroness of our parish and subsequently our school.

In 'Mary of the Southern Cross', we see what artist Paul Newton shares about his painting:

'She is totally focused upon him and holds him affectionately to herself… at the same time, she holds him so as to face us, the viewers, as if presenting or giving him to us.'

'I wanted to suggest in Mary’s demeanour serenity and great humility, not
drawing attention to herself but rather to her son.'

We want to emulate Mary in drawing attention to her Son in our words and
actions.
