FROM THE PRINCIPAL
We’ve just farewelled our local elders who were thrilled to attend our NAIDOC week ceremony today. I am so very proud of our amazing MHOC mob! They proudly led the whole school in a beautiful ceremony, showcasing aboriginal dance, music and culture. I’ll let the photos tell the story:
We thank you Lord for the beauty of our land and the richness of its culture. During this NAIDOC Week, we honour and celebrate the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Please bless them and their communities.
Help us to listen and learn with open hearts. Teach us to respect and appreciate each other’s differences, and to work together in harmony.
Guide us to be kind, to seek justice, and to walk humbly with You.
In Jesus' name, we pray.
Amen.
I’m taking some leave in Term 3 to spend time with my expanding family! Mrs Ryan will be captain of the ship in my absence and will be well supported by two first mates: Mrs Biddle and Mrs Martin.
School reports are now available in the Compass app with Student Reflections on Learning coming your way via Seesaw.
Wishing you all a restful term break.
God bless.
Liz

LOVING LEARNING
Understanding the K-6 Student Report
A video has been created as an additional resource for parents to complement the information about the changes in the report for Semester 1.
We sent information about the new reports home via Compass on Tuesday. Click on this video link if you would prefer to watch a video.
Year 5 Poetry Slam
This term, Year 5 students have been learning about the power of words through poetry, specifically 'Slam Poems'. Slam poetry is a dynamic form of spoken word performance where artists express personal and social issues with passion and rhythm. This week, students presented their poems to the Year 5 cohort. The people's choice award went to Zara Pinder, with her exceptional poem about racism. All of the presentations were brilliant, and the Year 5 teachers are incredibly proud of the courage and passion that went into the creation and performance of their poems.

Seasons for Growth Program
Seasons for Growth is a small group education program that supports children and young people to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes to understand and respond well to experiences of change, loss and grief.
Seasons for Growth supports children and young people who have experienced change and loss, including, although not limited to family separation; loss or death of someone they care about; living away in out of home care; physical or mental illness. We suggest that children and young people impacted by bereavement wait 6-12 months before participating in a Seasons for Growth program.
In Term 3 we will be offering the Seasons program at Mary Help of Christians. If you think that your child would benefit from this program, please fill in this expression of interest form.
