FROM THE PRINCIPAL
It felt a bit strange not having our regular Friday Assembly today but it was a small cost to pay when it meant having the Wildfire band perform and spend time with our school community. Great to see some of our parents rocking away in the back stalls at yesterday afternoon’s concert. Come again soon Wildfire!
Don’t forget the cake stall at Bunnings this Sunday. All funds raised go toward our Stage 2 playground project.
Warm regards,
Liz

WHAT'S THE BUZZ?
Car Park Safety
It is important that we work together to keep everyone safe in the car park. Parents and carers are asked not to walk through the car park at any time, rather walk on the footpath, around the car park.
If you need to cross the road, please be sure to use the supervised crossing in Eungella St.
Never walk between parked buses or across the entrance to the car park, even when the barriers are up, as buses can enter at any time.
Thank you for your cooperation.
School Camps
Compass alerts for Year 4 and Year 5 camps were sent to parents a little earlier than usual last week with the purpose of giving everyone lots of time to finalise payment.
Parents, please be assured that class teachers will be sending home more detailed information regarding camps early in Term 3.
If you have any concerns or wondering about school camps before this time, please be sure to contact the Year 4 and 5 teachers or any of the school leadership.
Have you heard of Rock and Water?
Rock and Water is a self-development program designed to enhance children’s resilience skills; monitor and identify their reactive behaviour patterns when placed in times of stress; develop their capacity to work effectively in a group situation by analysing how relationships are strengthened and to stand with focus and determination as an individual.
Our student wellbeing officer, Mr Terry Cahill, will begin delivering the Rock and Water program to students in Years 3-6, with a focus on confidence, body awareness, working together, intuition and listening, non-verbal cues, boundaries and mastering your emotions.
Our aim is to get all students from Years 5-6 through the program by the end of the year as well as some Year 4’s & 3's.
Rubik's Cube Challenge
We’re excited about our inaugural Rubik’s Cube challenge. We will hold some heats next Wednesday at lunchtime with the final hopefully being held next Friday at Assembly.
This is a speed challenge so the prerequisite for entering the competition is being able to solve the cube. Children will be invited to nominate at our Monday morning Assembly.
Grandparents’ Day
Our annual Grandparents' Day will be held on Friday 26th July. For catering purposes, please click on this link to register.

Safe on Socials - Location Services
Yes, your mobile device can track your location. This is useful for features like Weather, Traffic, Find My iPhone, and Maps, but many entertainment apps also track your location. The information collected by these apps can be used for sales and marketing purposes or to show your exact location on social media. If you are not comfortable with this, it’s simple to opt out and turn on location services only when needed.
LOVING LEARNING
Year 4 Rhyming Couplets
Year 4 has been learning to create rhyming couplets. Here are some of our wonderful ideas.

The fearful koala watched the firefighter sip.
He turned on the tap and the water started to drip. Avreet
The amazing tree, it was green. It needed a lot of caffeine. Kenzi
Trees are towering

The pure white cockatoo was sitting on the tree.
It was watching, waiting and longing to be free. Imogen M

Just like all of the trees standing there dead. Max
FROM THE MISSION DESK
Confirmation Candidates
Students who are preparing to receive the sacrament of Confirmation will be attending this weekend's church services for a special blessing. Please keep them all in your prayers.
As part of the preparation for Confirmation there will also be a mini-retreat at Sawtell Catholic Church on Tuesday 23rd July (first day back next term). The day will involve prayer, reflection, singing, craft and games.
Wildfire
We were blessed to have the Wildfire band visit us this week. Students were dancing, singing, and praying along to some fabulous tunes. It was lovely to see so much laughter and smiles filling the hall. Thank you, Wildfire!
What's Been Happening in Religious Education in Year 6?
Earlier in the term, Year 6 learnt about an important event in our Liturgical Calendar, Pentecost. Students explored the story of the Holy Spirit descending upon the apostles, empowering them to spread the message of Jesus.
The students demonstrated their learning through Padlet, an interactive and collaborative digital tool. Using Padlet, students were asked to share their understanding of Pentecost, and either locate a suitable image or create one using GenAI.
